80-year journey: VNA affirms prestige as national news agency

Kyodo News President Toshimitsu Sawai emphasised that the VNA’s coverage is regarded as the most authoritative source on Vietnam. He highlighted its adaptability in an evolving media landscape, especially its application of AI and other state-of-the art technologies in the editorial work.

Tokyo (VNA) – Kyodo News President Toshimitsu Sawai has praised the Vietnam News Agency (VNA)’s performance in fulfilling its mandate as Vietnam’s official news agency through delivering accurate and reliable news over the past eight decades.

He told the VNA correspondent in Tokyo that the agency has established itself as a dominant force in Vietnam’s media landscape, with numerous domestic media outlets utilising its reports and coverage.

The VNA has been playing a leading role in conveying information about Vietnam's social development to the world, Sawai said, adding Kyodo News bureau in Hanoi consistently monitors VNA's output, frequently citing or referencing its reports when necessary.

Regarding the agency’s standing within regional and international media networks, Sawai emphasised that the VNA’s coverage is regarded as the most authoritative source on Vietnam. He highlighted its adaptability in an evolving media landscape, especially its application of AI and other state-of-the art technologies in the editorial work.

On the partnership between the VNA and Kyodo News, Sawai said their collaboration has expanded beyond journalist support to include business cooperation.

⛄ Within the Organisation of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA), he said VNA has maintained a prominent role throughout its 56-year membership, noting it has contributed to consolidating OANA's activities through active participation in the organisation's events as well as sharing of experience and expertise. Furthermore, its multiple OANA awards for photography and reporting serve as a model for editorial excellence within the organisation./.
