Indonesia plans to open direct flights from Yogyakarta, which is home to Borobudur - the largest Buddhist temple in the world, to several countries in the region to facilitate Buddhists as well as tourists to experience spiritual tourism, as part of a master plan to develop the Borobudur Buddhist temple complex.

Som Rong Pagoda in Soc Trang province is home to a giant outdoor statue of the Buddha lying on its side as it attains Nirvana. It is 63 metres long and 22.5 metres tall and placed at about 28 metres above the ground.

Aside from the archaic and solemn landscape, Nom Pagoda in Van Lam district of northern Hung Yen province is also home to valuable objects which are old statues dating back centuries.

Situated on the east side of West Lake, Tran Quoc Pagoda – a landmark in Hanoi – is the oldest Buddhist temple in the capital city, dating back to the 6th century.
