The Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Agency in Hanoi (KOTRA Hanoi), part of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea (RoK) in Vietnam, held a conference on Vietnam-RoK cooperation in the semiconductor industry on August 6.

The Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) and US technology enterprise Synopsys signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on March 15 to enhance the VNU-HCM’s semiconductor training and research capacity.

The National Innovation Centre (NIC) is building a project on developing human resources for the semiconductor industry as part of the country’s efforts to provide 50,000 engineers for the industry, according to NIC Vice Director Vo Xuan Hoai.

Vietnam aims to become a leading country in ASEAN and East Asia in chip production, with deeper participation in the global production and supply chain by 2030, according to an expert.

The US-based electronic design automation (EDA) company Synopsys will assist Vietnam in developing human resources in chip design, as part of a deal signed with the Management Board of Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP) in Ho Chi Minh City on August 26.
