The Prime Minister has approved the establishment of a council steering the compilation of a Vietnam encyclopedia.
Accordingly, the Steering Council will be chaired by Deputy PrimeMinister Vu Duc Dam who is aided by President of the Vietnam Academy ofSocial Sciences Nguyen Xuan Thang and President of the Vietnam Academyof Science and Technology Chau Van Minh as the Standing Vice Chairmanand the Vice Chairman, respectively.
The councilwill group 13 members, including eight deputy ministers of the Ministryof Science and Technology; the Ministry of Planning and Investment; theMinistry of Finance; the Ministry of National Defence; the Ministry ofPublic Security; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the Ministry ofEducation and Training; and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The others are deputy heads of the Party CentralCommittee’s Commission for Communications and Education and the TheoryCouncil; and Deputy Directors of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy ofPolitics and Public Administration and the Vietnam National Universitiesin Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The Steering Councilis tasked with proposing guidelines, directions, and measures ofcompiling the encyclopedia to the PM, and helping the Cabinet leadercoordinate the compilation work.
It is also assignedto mobilise scientists’ engagement in the work, evaluate compilationoutcomes, and publish the encyclopedia.-VNA
