Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Public Security announced on November 29 that its Police Investigation Agency has detained and searched the home of former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) Tran Bac Ha for his suspected involvement in legal violations via banking operations at the BIDV.

Based the evidence collected so far, the agency issued on November 22 a decision on launching criminal proceedings against the violation of legal regulations on banking activities and other related dealings at the BIDV, in accordance with Article 206 of the Criminal Code 2015.

The agency also detained and searched the homes of former Deputy General Director of the BIDV Tran Luc Lang and former Deputy Director of the BIDV Ha Tinh branch Kieu Dinh Hoa.

Meanwhile, former chief of the corporate client office at the BIDV Ha Tinh branch Le Thi Van Anh, who was allegedly involved in legal violations via banking operations at the BIDV, was ordered not to leave her place of residence.

The agency is conducting the investigation and reclaiming assets in line with the law.

According to the press statement of the 27th session of the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission, authorities decided to take a disciplinary measure against Ha, who is also former Secretary of the BIDV Party Committee, by dispelling him from the Party.

At the 26th session, the commission concluded that Ha holds the main responsibility for the wrongdoings and shortcomings of the BIDV Party Committee’s standing board for the 2010-2015 and 2015-2020 tenures. –VNA
