French electro group to sound off at Cargo Bar

Band member WilliamRene was initially a saxophonist but then turned to electro musicdescribed as "a light and attractive style". The band is named after anextinct wolflike carnivorous marsupial of Tasmania.

Their latest album titled Blend includes four songs composed between the summer 2013 and spring 2014.

"Eachwork is imbued with a unique flavour and reveals the cross-influence ofthe ‘clapping music' of Steve Reich, jazz experiments of John Zorn, andtriphop of Massive Attack," a press release from the French Institutein HCM City and iLL Beats Saigon said.

The concert will alsofeature the performance of three well-known Vietnamese DJs, Jase Nguyenof HCM City, DJ Jin of Hai Phong, and DJ Duy Tuan of Hanoi.

Nguyenhas performed in front of 15,000 people in France and shared the stagewith international bands like Daedalus, Major Lazer and Gaslamp Killer.

Withthe harmony of flex funk, hip hop and dubstep, sometimes withVietnamese traditional music-inspired rock, since 2007, Nguyen and hisband - The Beats Saigon – have brought many vibrant musical nights tothe city.

Jin found his path as a DJ who loves to spin Hip Hop,scratching and beat-juggling, while Tuan's main genres are Funky, Disco,Hiphop Old School, House, Dubstep, Bass, and Trap.-VNA
