According to the Department of Vietnam Customs, in the first four months of 2025, the trade turnover of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products between Vietnam and China was estimated at 5.07 billion USD, up 3.7% over the same period in 2024. Of which exports from Vietnam reached about 3.62 billion USD (down 1.1%), and imports 1.45 billion USD (up 17.6%).
Vietnam could earn 300 million USD from shipping frozen durian to China on the back of the signed protocol on plant quarantine requirements for the product between the two sides, Director of the Plant Protection Department (PPD) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Huynh Tan Dat said on September 19.
On August 19, 2024, Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and China’s General Administration of Customs signed a Protocol on Inspection, Plant Quarantine, and Food Safety for Frozen Durian Exports from Vietnam to China.
Insiders believe in a bright prospect for durian export to China though the world’s largest durian consumer is expanding the cultivation of this fruit.
