Up to 183,000 Chinese tourists are expected to visit Thailand during this year's Golden Week holiday, representing an 88% recovery from 2019, generating 5.1 billion THB (150 million USD) in revenue, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) estimates that about 996,000 foreign tourists will visit the Southeast Asian country between April 26 and May 5, known as the Golden Week holidays in Japan, during which Chinese tourists also prefer to travel overseas.

Lt Gen Werachon Sukondhapatipak, deputy spokesman of the Thai government, revealed that Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha was happy after hearing that Bangkok has been named the most popular destination for Japanese tourists during their Golden Week, a five-day long holiday which begins in late April.

The Complex of Monuments in Hue city, the central province of Thua Thien-Hue welcomed more than 1.06 million tourists, including over 650,000 foreigners, in the first five months of 2016.

Central Thua Thien-Hue province will launch a “golden week” of tourism from December 24-30, expecting it to pick up tourist arrivals by 8 percent to 3.15 million this year.
