Guidelines on COVID-19 vaccination for students given to localities: official

The Ministry of Health has provided guidelines to localities on COVID-19 vaccination as part of efforts to allow students to return to school, Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen said at a press conference following the Government's regular meeting for October.

Hanoi (VNA) –The Ministry of Health has provided guidelines to localities on COVID-19 vaccinationas part of efforts to allow students to return to school, Deputy Minister DoXuan Tuyen said at a press conference following the Government's regular press conference for October. 
Tuyen said that along with releasing a decision onCOVID-19 vaccination instructions, the ministry has published on the nationalvaccination portal the detailed guidelines and directions to ensure safety ofvaccination and COVID-19 vaccination in particular.

Regarding the possibility of allowing students back to school, Deputy Minister of Education and TrainingHoang Minh Son said that to date, 21 cities and provinces have reopened schools, while 18 combined online and direct learning, and 24 others haveapplied online learning through the Internet and television.

In localities with largenumbers of students like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, plans on resuminglearning activities at schools have been made, but the decision will be made by thelocalities themselves, he said.

Son said that on November1, the Minister of Education and Training had a working session with theMinister of Health, during which they agreed that allowing pupils and studentsto return to school is a legitimate demand to ensure the quality of teaching andlearning activities as well as students' psychological health.

The two ministers agreedto organise an online conference early next month with the Departments ofHealth and Education and Training in all cities, provinces and districts toseek measures to ensure safety for students when direct teaching and learningactivities are resumed. 

The Ministry of Educationand Training has requested localities and the Ministry of Health to make plansto vaccinate students, especially those aging 12-18 years old, againstCOVID-19 as soon as possible, said Son./.
