HCM City (VNA) – Foreign experts𝔉 proposed ideas to help Ho Chi Minh City build a smartꦬ city at a workshop on August 11.

The experts, hailing from Japan, Singapore, Israel, the Republic of Korea and Taiwan (China), focused on transport, health care, education, environmental protection, food safety and start-ups.
They proposed creating a smart city where information is collected from different resources to forecast the future, helping municipal authorities make decisions. However, they pointed out that most Vietnamese cities don’t yet have a general system of information exchange. Nguyen Hoang Giang, from Microsoft, said a modern city should be grounded on digital technology with people being the top priority, suggesting HCM City provide more effective public services and promote relations between the public and local authorities.
Singaporean experts proposed the southern metropolis upgrade its traffic lights and cameras, and then invest in its transport infrastructure management system via geographical information system mapping applications. Many highlighted the need for the city to satisfy international education standards. Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen said the city will instruct departments and agencies to research the most suitable ways to build a smart city.-VNA
