Indonesia develops medical tourism model in Bali

PT Pertamina Bina Medika Indonesia Healthcare Corporation (IHC) has announced that it is constructing Bali International Hospital (BIH), an internationally recognised healthcare facility in the Health Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of Sanur, Bali.

Jakarta (VNA)🧸 – PT Pertamina Bina Medika IndonesiaHealthcare Corporation (IHC) has announced that it is constructing BaliInternational Hospital (BIH), an internationallyrecognised healthcare facility in the Health Special Economic Zone (SEZ) ofSanur, Bali.

IHC's Main Director Mira Dyah Wahyuni told the media on June19 that the hospital is expected to boost healthcare tourism of Indonesia. BIH will have centres of excellence, known as CONGO(Cardiology, Oncology, Neurology, Gastroentero-Hepatology, and Orthopedic). Additionally, medical check-up (MCU) services and diagnostic centres will beavailable to ensure comprehensive healthcare services. According toMira, about 2 million Indonesians annually still seek medical services abroadbecause domestic medical services do not meet standards. Therefore, theestablishment of BIH will ensure medical services for people in thecountry. In the long term, BIH will attract tourists who have demand formedical tourism including convalescence and treatment in Bali. She said that BIH is designed as a medical tourism service in Indonesiaand plans to commence operations in the second quarter of 2024. The hospital isbuilt with an eco-friendly hospital concept, aiming to reduce waste, enhanceenergy efficiency, and promote sustainable and eco-friendly practices. The hospital spansfive hectares with four floors and 260 wards. Collaborating with Mayo Clinic, aglobally renowned and trusted hospital in the US, BIH aims to deliverhigh-quality services to Indonesian patients with international standards./.
