The restructuring of the political system's organisational apparatus and the organisation of the two-tier local administration structure are a "revolution," requiring strong determination, resolute action, and unity in direction and implementation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said on June 14.

The PM revealed Vietnam’s plan to develop nuclear power in the near future, and called on the Swedish side to assist Vietnam in developing and refining legal and policy frameworks for the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes; training and developing human resources; ensuring nuclear safety; and conducting training and drills to improve incident management capabilities.

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held working sessions with leading Swedish corporations, including Ericsson, H&M, SYRE, and AstraZeneca in Stockholm on June 13 to foster their investment and cooperation with Vietnam, as part of his official visit to Sweden.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called for breakthrough cooperation between Vietnam and Sweden, stressing the importance of advancing political and diplomatic relations and promoting shared values, political trust, and close friendship.

Along with the good political relations, economic ties between Vietnam and Sweden have also grown steadily.

PM Pham Minh Chinh said that efforts by the Vietnamese community in Sweden to contribute to their host society are also acts of patriotism, and that all contributions are deeply appreciated.

This is the first visit to Sweden by a Vietnamese PM in six years, aiming to further intensify Vietnam’s relations with Sweden, which holds an important role and stature in Europe.

Spending considerable time viewing artefacts from Vietnam as well as exhibits reflecting historical ties between Vietnam and France, the PM expressed his deep impression at the museum’s rich and diverse collections, which vividly showcase the distinctive characteristics of world civilisations.

The two-way trade has seen steady growth over the years, exceeding 5.4 billion USD in 2024. However, huge potential and room remains for economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries.

PM Pham Minh Chinh called on Greece to support the European Parliament’s early ratification of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and to advocate the European Commission’s removal of its “yellow card” warning on Vietnamese seafood.
