Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has assignedthe Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate with otherministries and localities to strengthen the inspection and handling of violationsrelated to natural forest destruction nationwide.

Recently, the Thanh Tra (Inspection) newspaper reported that the Ba BeNational Park in the northern province of Bac Kan has been protected by variousforces, but many rare iron-wood trees there had been cut down.

Especially, a number of trees were chopped down right within the areas managedby the Ba Be district’s Police Department and Military Headquarters.

The PM asked authorised agencies to strictly deal with the issues and promptlysubmit a report on the work.-VNA

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.
