Project to improve livelihoods in Ben Tre province expanded

The Seed to Table Programme is providing 75,000 USD to expand its ongoing project to improve the livelihoods of disadvantaged households in Binh Chanh district in the southern province Ben Tre.
The Seed to Table Programme is providing 75,000 USD to expand itsongoing project to improve the livelihoods of disadvantaged householdsin Binh Chanh district in the southern province Ben Tre.

Accordingly, two more communes of the district, Vang Quoi Dong and TamHiep, will participate in the project from December onwards.

The main objectives of the project are to support the development ofenvironmentally friendly agriculture and to provide local residents withfresh water storage tanks for the dry season.

Theproject has been underway since July 2012, with 90,000 USD allocated tofive poor rural communes so far, namely Thanh Phuoc, Dai Hoa Loc, PhuLong, Chau Hung and Long Hoa.

It has helped changefarmers’ behaviour and supported the application of green productionmethods, including organic vegetable farming.-VNA
