Quang Nam (VNA) – A festival featuringNgoc Linh ginseng was opened in the central province of Quang Nam on June 10.
The event, the first of its kind, was jointlyorganised under the theme “Ngoc Linh ginseng legend” by the People’s Committeeof Nam Tra My district and the provincial Department of Culture, Sports andTourism.
Numerous activities are being held during thefour-day festival, including art performances, and exhibitions introducing NgocLinh ginseng root products, and tours to the plant growing areas.
Ngoc Linh ginseng was first found on Ngoc Linh Mountain on the border betweenQuang Nam and Central Highlands Kon Tum province and in the late 1960s.
Vietnam’s Ngoc Linh ginseng contains 52 saponins(saponin is the main component of ginseng. The more saponins, the better).
Besides saponin, Ngoc Linh ginseng contains 17 amino acids, 20 trace mineralsand 0.1 percent of attar. The ginseng has high effects in anti-stress andanti-aging conditions. It helps improve immunity, enhance liver function, andlower cholesterol. Besides, it also works well with antibiotics and diabetesmedications.
Ngoc Linh ginseng is one of the world’s most precious ginsengs. It has beenapproved as a national product under the Prime Minister’s Decision 787/QD-TTg.
Quang Nam has zoned off over 15,000 hectares toplant the ginseng, with the participation of over 1,000 households in seven communesin Nam Tra My district.
In 2016, the Ministry of Science andTechnology’s Intellectual Property Agency recognised the GeographicalIndication (GI) of Ngoc Linh for ginseng root products.-VNA
About 10,000 local residents and tourists are expected to join the first Ngoc Linh Ginseng Festival – part of cultural events during the sixth Quang Nam Heritage Festival – in Nam Tra My district on June 13-16.
Tra My district in Quang Nam province has introduced the first ever Ngoc Linh ginseng (Panax vietnamensis or Vietnamese ginseng) and medical herbs centre in Tra Mai commune as a major source of seed and sapling in Vietnam.

A hub for sharing best practices, the event aims to forge solutions for financial sustainability, public media contracts, audience engagement, content innovation, and newsroom restructuring. It is also a moment for Vietnam’s media to accelerate its progress and figure out what the “revolutionary press” means in a new era.
From “Thanh nien”, Vietnam’s first revolutionary newspaper founded by Nguyen Ai Quoc (later President Ho Chi Minh) on June 21, 1925, the revolutionary press has remained devoted to its sacred missions -accompanying the nation, serving the Fatherland, and working for the people.
