Special mechanisms and policies must be put in place to encourage investments in the processing of rice by-products, a bold step that helps deliver significant benefits to farmers while contributing to carbon footprint reduction, according to insiders.

A workshop on developing the circular economy in rice production and processing was held in Can Tho city on June 7, drawing the participation of policymakers, experts, and representatives from international organisations and the Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development of 13 Mekong Delta localities, and businesses in this industry.

The first project to build a trading floor for rice and rice by-products in accordance with Vietnam's circular economy model was officially launched on December 19 in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap.
