The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family of the Republic of Korea (RoK) has announced that it continues to implement a vocational training and skill development programme for Vietnamese women.

This is an official development assistance project the RoK government has provided for developing countries, including Vietnam, worth 600 million won (552,000 USD) for 2015

Since 2011, the ministry has helped Vietnam establish three career and capacity development centres in the northern province of Thai Binh, the central province of Quang Nam and the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.

About 8,500 women nationwide have joined courses in makeup, nail arts and marketing at the centres. Around 1,240 out of almost 3,000 women completing the courses have found jobs or even set up their own businesses.

According to the ministry, graphic design, sale techniques and housework will be included in the curriculum in the last six months of the year to meet local demands.

With support from RoK experts, the centres will compile and issue training documents to Vietnamese women.

Moving forward, ꦛthe RoK will step up collaboration with developing countries including Vietnam to implement gender equality projects.-VNA
