Russian team wins Whitehat Grand Prix 2018

Hanoi (VNA) – Russian team LC1BCwon the global-scale cyber security competition Whitehat Grand Prix 2018, whichtook place in Hanoi on November 1.

In the final round, teams had to overcomesecurity breaches in a challenge that lasted eight hours.

LC1BC’s first place finish came with a prizeof 230 million VND (10,000 USD). The Republic of Korea’s Coconut Coffee teamand Polish P4team came second and third, earning approximately 45 million VNDand 25 million VND (2,000 and 1,000 USD), respectively.

Three teams from Vietnam – Injoker10K,ACEBEA, and r3s0L – secured the 5th, 6th and 8th place, respectively.

According to deputy head of the InformationSecurity Department Nguyen Huy Dung, the competition had the highest number ofparticipants among all Whitehat Grand Prix events to date, with 720 teams from79 countries and territories. 

Themed “Legends of Vietnam”, the content ofthe Whitehat Grand Prix 2018 was developed by Vietnamese and international ITengineers around 18 Vietnamese legends to promote the country’s culture.

The online qualification round of the event ranfor 24 hours on August 18 and 19. The 10 teams that survived the round gatheredin Hanoi for the final.

In 2014, the first WhiteHat Grand Prix washeld simultaneously in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. It became an annualinternational competition the next year, drawing the participation of leadingcyber security teams from across the world.

In 2017, it attracted 453 teams from 62nations and territories.-VNA

The PM revealed Vietnam’s plan to develop nuclear power in the near future, and called on the Swedish side to assist Vietnam in developing and refining legal and policy frameworks for the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes; training and developing human resources; ensuring nuclear safety; and conducting training and drills to improve incident management capabilities.
