Thailand to reopen entertainment venues on early next year

Bangkok (VNA) – The Thai Cabin✨et on November 16approved the reopening date for entertainment venues, pubs, bars and kara🧜okejoints across Thailand on January 16, 2022, said its deputy spokesperson RatchadaThanadirek.

Thegovernment had announced earlier that it would consider the reopening date forentertainment venues based on the COVID-19 situation, with the timeframe setbetween December 1 to January next year, she said. However, after discussing withMinistry of Public Health and the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration(CCSA), the Cabinet agreed that the suitable reopening date should be January 16,which will yield the highest benefit to the country. Earlier onOctober 11, Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said during a nationaltelevision broadcast that on around December 1, the Government would considerallowing the serving of alcoholic drinks in restaurants as well as allowingentertainment venues to open under appropriate disease control measures. The PMsaid the move will help stimulate tourism during the new year festival. Thailand on November 17morning reported 6,524 COVID-19 infection cases and 56 deaths in the past 24hours, bringing the total infections to 2,037,224. Of them, 1,925,643 recoveredand 20,199 died from the disease./.
