Tien Giang’s exports surge in the first two quarters

The Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang raked in 792 million USD from exports in the first two quarters of this year, shooting up 22 percent from the same period last year, according to the provincial Department of Industry and Trade.

About 60 percent of the provincial exportswere contributed by foreign-invested businesses in the locality, whichare effectively operating and have won many contracts with partners, theDepartment said, adding that stellar growth in the first six monthswill create an impetus to foster exports in the final half of the year.

The province is striving to earn 858 million USD fromexports in the remaining of the year, bringing the total export value to1.65 billion USD, surpassing the yearly plan by 3 percent and rising11.5 percent from the whole year of 2014.

To realise the target,the province is promoting inter-province and inter-region cooperationwhile seeking ways to broaden export markets. It is also encouragingdomestic and foreign-invested enterprises to further trade promotion andrenew technology lines to improve product quality.

Tien Gianghas created favourable conditions for enterprises to study foreignmarkets and seek potential partners through organising promotion fairsboth in the country and in foreign nations.

Key exports of theprovince including handbags, leather shoes, garments, processedaquaculture and rice shipped to countries in the Americas, the EU andAsia.-VNA
