VFF leader commemorates Cuban leader Fidel Castro

Hanoi (VNA) – President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) CentralCommittee Nguyen Thien Nhan on November 29 paid homage to late Cubanrevolutionary leader Fidel Castro Ruz at the Cuban Embassy in Hanoi.

FidelCastro, who was Commander-in-chief of the Cuban revolution, former FirstSecretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee (CPC), and formerPresident of the Council of State and Council of Ministers, died on November 25night (Havana time) at the age of 90.

Writing onthe funeral book, the VFF leader expressed deep sorrow at the death of the lateleader.

“TheVietnamese people and I myself admire the great devotion of comrade FidelCastro to the national liberation and national development of Cuba as well asthe struggle for national independence and progress in the world,” he wrote.

He affirmedthat Vietnamese people always keep in their mind the warm sentiments and greatsupport that comrade Fidel Castro gave to Vietnam during the past struggle for nationalindependence, reunification and the building of socialism.

Nhanreiterated Fidel Castro’s famous saying “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to devoteblood”.

On November28 afternoon and November 29 morning, about 60 delegations and thousands ofpeople paid tribute to the late Cuban leader at the Cuban Consulate General inHo Chi Minh City.

Along withleaders from Ho Chi Minh City and a number of localities, including Ben Tre andBinh Duong, former President Nguyen Minh Triet, former Chairman of the Ho ChiMinh City People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan and former Secretary of the Ho ChiMinh Party Committee Le Thanh Hai also paid homage to Fidel Castro.

The CubanConsulate General in Ho Chi Minh City will open the funeral book for FidelCastro Ruz until December 4.-VNA
