Vietnam brings culture and tradition closer to Greek people

Hanoi (VNA)𒁏 – The Vietnam – Greece Days took place from September 4 - 6 in the city of Edessa to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2, 1945 – 2025) and the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Edessa Mayor Ioannis Tsepkentzis affirmed that the event, together with the cultural traditions, history, and natural beauty shared by the two nations, will contribute to deepening bonds between Vietnam and Edessa in particular, and with Greece as a whole.
He emphasised that the 50-year milestone represents a new chapter in the bilateral ties, marked by closer and more effective cooperation. During the event, visitors expressed special interest in traditional Vietnamese cuisine and handicrafts, especially commemorative souvenirs marking the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day. Local residents also enjoyed screenings of films showcasing Vietnam’s development achievements over eight decades of independence, documentaries on the special friendship between Vietnam and Greece, as well as works about President Ho Chi Minh and award-winning Vietnamese films honoured at domestic and regional festivals./.

Inspired by the renowned Turkish novel "Madonna in a Fur Coat", the film portrays the tender love story of Manav (Shantanu Maheshwari), a young man aspiring to become a singer who is sent to study in Vietnam. There, he is enchanted by the self-portrait of Linh (Kha Ngan), a painter and dancer, setting the stage for a poignant romance.
