Vietnam’s 80-year journey highlighted at National Day celebration in Cuba

Havana (VNA)♕ – The Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba celebrated the 80th National Day (September 2) with a ceremony held on September 16, drawing hundreds of Cuban officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps, international friends, and Vietnamese people in the Caribbean nation.
Participants watched a documentary tracing Vietnam’s 80-year journey of nation-building, protection, and development with historic milestones and major socio-economic achievements.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Le Quang Long emphasised the historic significance of September 2, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square, marking the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The declaration, Long said, marked the beginning of an era of national liberation not only in Vietnam but also across colonies in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

These attainments provide a firm foundation for Vietnam to advance to an era of the nation's rise and build a modern, prosperous, and civilised nation, the ambassador stressed.
He expressed Vietnam’s gratitude for the precious friendship, solidarity, and support from peace-loving nations and international friends, including Cuba.
The celebration concluded with guests enjoying traditional Vietnamese cuisine and cultural performances in a warm atmosphere of solidarity and friendship./.
Fidel’s words to the gathered soldiers: “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to shed its own blood!” captured the very essence of the friendship forged between the two nations, a relationship nurtured through resilience, dignity, and internationalist spirit.
Cuban Ambassador to Venezuela Dagoberto Rodríguez noted that in world history, few relationships are as exceptional as that of Vietnam and Cuba. From José Martí and President Ho Chi Minh to Fidel Castro, generations of revolutionary leaders have sown and cultivated the seeds of friendship that is now an invaluable spiritual asset for both nations.
Created by lecturers and students of the Fine Arts University, the mural spans nearly 50 square metres. Its vivid colours and symbolic imagery, including the national flags of both countries, bamboo, lotus flowers, sugarcane, the One Pillar Pagoda, Ha Long Bay, Havana’s Revolution Square, and Cuba’s Vinales Valley, reflect cultural harmony and the lasting solidarity between the two countries' people.
Nakamura Goro, a prominent Japanese photojournalist with decades of ties to Vietnam, said the Vietnam News Agency has consistently provided accurate, objective information, fulfilling its role as the country's state news outlet.
