More than 500 delegates attending the sixth National Congress of the Vietnam War Veterans’ Association (VWVA) paid tribute to late President Ho Chi Minh at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi on December 13.

Hanoi (VNA) –
More than 500 delegatesattending the sixth National Congress of the Vietnam War Veterans’ Association (VWVA) paid tribute to late President Ho Chi Minh at the HoChi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoion December 13.

Present at the event was Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Duoc,Chairman of the VWVA.

Veterans later offered incense at the Monument to Heroic Martyrs tocommemorate soldiers who died for the cause of national liberation.

On December 13 afternoon, the sixth National Congress of the (VWVA) will convene a preparatory meeting.

The official congress is scheduled to take placeon December 14-15 with the participation of 516 delegates representing nearly 3million veterans across the country.

It is set to review the implementation of the5th congress’s resolution while discussing plans, tasks and solutions in thenew tenure, and will elect a new executive board for the 2017-2022 tenure.

In the previous tenure, the association and its chaptersmade efforts to reduce poverty sustainably, promote charity activities and helpeach other improve livelihoods.

In addition, the VWVA’s chapters worked closelywith localities to consolidate the political system at grassroots level anddevelop a pure and strong association.

The chapters also contributed to preventingcorruption and social misbehaviour and defeating “peace evolution” schemes toensure political stability and social order.-VNA
