The 14th National Assembly’s eighth session began its 19th working day in Hanoi on November 14 under the chair of NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Hanoi (VNA) –The 14th National Assembly’s eighth session began its 19th working day in Hanoi on November 14 under the chair of NA Chairwoman Nguyen ThiKim Ngan.

In the plenary sessionpresided over by NA Vice Chairman Phung Quoc Hien in the morning, Chairman ofthe NA Committee for Finance and Budget Nguyen Duc Hai presented a report onacquiring feedback on the draft Resolution on State budget allocation for 2020.

The resolution was lateradopted with over 90 percent of approval.

Later, 14 lawmakers presentedtheir opinions on the draft law on amendments and supplements to Article 3 ofthe law on management and use of weapons, explosives and supporting tools.

The NA also debated the draftlaw on amendments and supplements to several articles of the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners inVietnam.

A majorityof opinions agreed with the need to amend the law.

Under the direction of NAVice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong in the afternoon, Chairman of the NA Committeefor External Relations Nguyen Van Giau delivered a report reviewing theratification of the Supplementary Treaty tothe 1985Treaty on the Delimitation of National Boundaries and theSupplementary Treaty 2005 between Vietnam and Cambodia, the Protocol onMainland Border Demarcation between the two nations.

NA ViceChairman Uong Chu Lu later directed a plenary discussion on the draftResolution on pilot the non-organisation of people’s councils in wards ofHanoi’s districts and townships.

Minister ofHome Affairs Le Vinh Tan made clear issues of deputies’ concern.

On November15, the legislature will mull over the revised Investment Law and the amendedLaw on Enterprises and Youth Law, among others./.

Death penalty for eight crimౠinal offenses lifted

The new law abolishes the death penalty for eight criminal offenses: the crime aimed at overthrowing the people’s government; the crime of sabotaging state infrastructure and technical facilities; the crime of producing and trading counterfeit medicines for treatment and prevention; the crime of destroying peace and causing aggressive war; the crime of espionage; that of illegally transporting narcotics; embezzlement; and bribe taking.
