An Giang (VNA) – Launching the 2019 NationalVolunteer Year, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union onJanuary 18 and 19 sent a delegation to border posts located along theborderline in the southwestern province of An Giang.

The dispatch was made as the country just marked the 40th anniversary of the victory of the war for the defence of the southwesternborder and is welcoming the imminent traditional lunar New Year which will fallin early next month.

Speaking while visiting the Nhon Nhung border post in TinhBien district on January 19, Permanent Secretary of the committee Nguyen AnTuan asked the youth organisations to bring into full play the vanguard andvolunteer role. Voluntary activities must be held regularly and manifest thecreativeness of the youth, he said, asking for effective and suitableinvestment to the activities.

Earlier, the delegation visited the Vinh Nguon border poston January 18.

During the visits, youth representatives conducted freehealth checks and treatments to locals, planted trees, popularized traffic safety,and presented gifts to the poor of ethnic minority groups and veterans andinvalids of the war.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
