80th anniversary of Vietnam People’s Public Security marked in Laos
The Lao Party, Government, and public security force have always recognised that the achievements and victories of the force during the struggle for national liberation and in the current period of protecting and developing the country are closely linked to the solidarity and valuable assistance of its Vietnamese counterpart.

Vientiane (VNA) – The representative office of Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security in Laos has held a meeting to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Public Security (August 19, 1945 – 2025) in Vientiane.
Speaking at the ceremony on the evening of August 13, Major General Huynh Tan Hanh, chief representative of the Vietnamese ministry in Laos, recalled that throughout the journey of national liberation and the path toward socialism in both countries, their public security forces have stood side by side in solidarity, supporting and assisting each other in safeguarding and building their nations.
He expressed his belief that in the time to come, the comprehensive cooperation between the two ministries of public security in all areas of work will continue to be a highlight and a pillar of the overall bilateral relationship, meeting the demands and tasks in the new situation, and jointly preserving and promoting the long-standing special bond of loyalty and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

General Vilay Lakhamphong, Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security, expressed his deepest gratitude to the Party, Government, armed forces, and people of Vietnam for their consistent solidarity, close cooperation, and wholehearted support over the years.

In any circumstances, the Lao People’s Army will always stand shoulder to shoulder with its Vietnamese counterpart to safeguard both nations and nurture their great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation.
Vietnamese and Lao officials reiterated their resolve to further deepen the Vietnam–Laos great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation, while maintaining close coordination at multilateral platforms and on regional issues.
Pathet Lao, the official newspaper of the Lao News Agency, on July 18 published two editorials affirming the historic significance of the Laos - Vietnam Treaty of Amity and Cooperation, and extolling the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation in the cause of national protection and development in each country.
Noting the strategic significance of connecting the Vietnam–China railway connectivity, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha said that routes such as Lao Cai–Hanoi–Hai Phong, Hanoi–Lang Son, and Hanoi–Mong Cai will enhance logistics efficiency, promote socio-economic development in localities of both countries, and contribute to improving Vietnam’s operational capacity and access to modern railway technology.
Ambassador Kees van Baar affirmed that the Netherlands will work with several international organisations to support Vietnam in sustainable water resource management, environmental impact assessment, knowledge and experience sharing, and provision of both grant aid and loans.

The meeting approved the list of official and alternate delegates for the NA’s first Party Congress for the 2025–2030 term. It also endorsed the criteria, number, structure, and proposed allocation of personnel of the NA delegation to attend the 14th National Party Congress slated for early 2026.
