Action programme launched to make tourism economic spearhead

The Government has just launched an action programme to implement a Politburo resolution on developing the tourism industry into a spearhead economic sector.

– The Government hasjust launched an action programme to implement a Politburo resolution ondeveloping the tourism industry into a spearhead economicsector.

To realise the resolution’s targets, ministries,agencies, Government bodies, and localities need to make a roadmap to implementeight key tasks.

Communication should be promoted to raiseawareness on the content of the resolution among ministries, localities,organisations and levels, particularly the Party’s new view point on the tourismsector as well as the role of tourism in driving other sectors.

Mass media outlets need to enhance the awarenessand knowledge of tourism development and introduce the image of the nation andits people, ensuring that tourism is a constant and key part of their output.

Additionally, tourism restructuring planning mustbe developed in line with the market mechanism. Localities with huge tourismpotential should develop their own plans to restructure their tourism sector,while reviewing their current tourism development strategies, with a focus onmobilising resources for the sector.

Surveys on the sector need to be accelerated toidentify the role of tourism in the national economy and to point out localitieswith huge tourism potential.

Guiding documents on implementing the Law ofTourism 2017 will be developed and revised, incentives for the sector will bedevised, and financial priority is set to be given to planning, training, humanresource development and promotion work.

Administrative procedure reform needs to be spedup to facilitate tourism development and investment priority lists should berevised, including for key tourism projects.

Relevant legal documents, including the Law onentry, exit, transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam and the Law onInvestment 2014 need to be revised to create a breakthrough for the sector.

The action programme also mentions measures tofulfill the goals of tourism development, including investment ininfrastructure facility, with a focus on roads, railways, aviation, sea andinland waterway to serve tourism. 

The programme also stated that tourismenterprises must be aided to expand their products and services.
Social organisations are also expected to getmore involved in tourism development.-VNA
