Activities protecting seas to take place in Hai Phong

Activitiesinclude the sixth forum on the maritime branding of Vietnam, under thetheme “Vietnam's Maritime Brand in International Integration” which willbe held on June 6, a ceremony to mark the 2014 World Oceans Day andVietnam Sea and Island Week on June 7 and the launching of a campaign byyouth volunteers on cleaning beaches and cycling along the beaches tocommunicate about sea and environmental protection.

Theactivities aim to improve the public’s awareness of protecting the oceanand responding to climate change by such practical acts as cleaningbeaches and maritime ecological zones.

They also help change thecommunity’s awareness, habits and lifestyles towards environmentalfriendliness and improve the awareness of preserving maritimebiodiversity, as well as encourage officials, soldiers and people indisadvantaged islands.

The week is organised annually by theMinistry of Natural Resources and Environmental in a response to theWorld Environment Day (June 5) and the World Oceans Day (June 8).-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
