Hanoi (VNA) – The ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup 2020will be postponed one more time from April 2021 to December 2021 due to the impactof the COVID-19 pandemic.
The information was released by permanent Vice President ofthe Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Quoc Tuan, who added that the AFFconvened a virtual meeting on December 7 to discuss and approve the tournament schedule next year.
Accordingly, the AFF’s premier tournament may take placefrom December 5, 2021 to January 1, 2020.
Earlier, the tournament’s schedule was delayed to April2021, instead of December 2020 initially.
The new date is expected to provide the best opportunityfor the event to be staged in its full format with home and away fixtures inboth the group and knockout stages, and with stadiums filled with fans toencourage and celebrate their teams./.
