An Giang leaders extend greetings to Hoa Hao Buddhism on 86th founding anniversary

A leader of An Giang has hailed the substantial contributions to the province and the country by Hoa Hao Buddhists throughout history.

An Giang (VNA) – A delegation from the provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the Mekong Delta province of An Giang on June 11 visited and extended congratulations to the Central Executive Board of the Hoa Hao Buddhist Sangha on the occasion of the religion’s 86th founding anniversary (1939–2025).

Leading the delegation, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Le Hong Quang affirmed that over the 86 years of accompanying Vietnam’s development, Hoa Hao Buddhist dignitaries and followers have made significant contributions to the cause of national liberation, independence, and reunification.

He noted that in the current era of comprehensive national renovation and proactive international integration, they have continued to promote their tradition of patriotism by effectively implementing the Party's guidelines and the State's laws. They have also actively supported and participated in patriotic emulation movements and campaigns launched by central agencies and the province.

In addition, the community has played an active role in social welfare programmes, thus fostering solidarity and supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals through practical actions such as building charity houses, bridges, and rural roads, raising funds to buy ambulances, providing free medical care, and more. These activities have helped ensure social security and boost local economic development, said the provincial Party leader.

Quang expressed his hope that in the coming time, Hoa Hao Buddhists will continue to complying with the Party's guidelines and the State's laws, practice in accordance with the religion’s principles, and maintain solidarity with and join other ethnic and religious communities in the province to further promote social welfare programmes.

Nguyen Tan Dat, head of the Central Executive Board of the Hoa Hao Buddhist Sangha, affirmed that the sangha and the entire followers will continue to build on past achievements, comply with the Party’s guidelines and the State's policies, fulfil their civic responsibilities, contribute to rural development, and enhance social welfare.

Hoa Ha🤪o Buddhism was founded by Huynh Phu So on the 18th day of the fifth lunar month in 1939. The day falls on June 13 this year./.
