A seminar on a joint project between Vietnam and Sweden to develop bio-energies and ensure energy efficiency took place in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang on June 4.
A seminar on a joint projectbetween Vietnam and Sweden to develop bio-energies and ensureenergy efficiency took place in the Mekong Delta province of AnGiang on June 4.

The project began in An Giang province in April this year and will run until December 2013.

Half of the 860,000 EUR investment comes from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).

The project will provide technical assistance and enhance capacity indeveloping initial projects, as well as ensure the efficient use ofenergy, especially renewable energies.

Participants at the seminar also discussed building smaller communitysized power plants fuelled by waste materials such as straw and ricehusk in An Giang province in the near future.

TheSwedish specialists talked about their experiences in accessinginformation services, market and financial techniques, building upbusinesses and financial planning.

According toHuynh The Nang, Vice Chairman of An Giang’s provincial People’sCommittee, the project is extremely significant as utilising bio-energyfuels could ensure the province’s energy security and sustainabledevelopment.

He emphasised on the need to dealwith waste from the agriculture and seafood sectors, and how it could beused to produce bio-energy, address environmental issues and minimisethe use of fossil fuels.

🎃 Hanoi to roll out policies supporting green transport transition

Under the plan, from 2025 to 2026, the city will complete mechanisms and policies to support businesses in switching to green vehicles, expand the electric and green-energy bus network, and build charging stations. The targeted proportion of green buses is set at 10% in 2025 and 20–23% in 2026.
