Hanoi (VNA) – Loc Thi Dao on March 24 won a gold medal for Vietnam at theAsian Archery Cup which is ongoing in Bangkok, Thailand.
TheVietnamese athlete defeated Olympic bronze medalist Lin Shih-chia of ChineseTaipei 6-5 in the women’s recurve individual category.
Daoand Lin tied 5-5 in the final necessitating a play-off to decide the winner. Daoperformed better and was able to take the title.
ShamoliRay of Bangladesh secured a bronze.
Daoearned her berth in the final after beating Filipino Nicole Marie Tagle 7-3 inthe semi-finals. She earlier defeated rivals from India, Malaysia and HongKong.
Itis the only medal Vietnam has managed to grab at the event, which is aqualifier for the 2017 World Games.
Theteam events took place on March 25.
TheWorld Games, a multi-sport event, is scheduled to take place in Wroclaw, Polandfrom July 20-30, with 27 official sports and four invitational sports featuredin the Games.-VNA
