Art programme raises over 10.4 billion VND for poor farmers in HCM City
An annual art performance by the Vietnam Farmers’ Union (VFU) Ho Chi Minh City raised more than 10.4 billion VND (457,746 USD) on January 11 in a bid to assist needy members of the organisation in the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet).

HCM City (VNA) – An annual art performance by the Vietnam Farmers’ Union (VFU) Ho Chi Minh City raised more than 10.4billion VND (457,746 USD) on January 11 in a bid to assist needy members of theorganisation in the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet).
Chairwoman Nguyen Thanh Xuan saidthe fund will benefit 3,000 poor and near-poor households in the city byoffering them 100 production tools, 2,050 Tet gifts, 820 scholarships, 100saving accounts, five charity houses, and 20 social welfare packages forchildren orphaned by COVID-19.
Vo Van Hoan, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’sCommittee, lauded the businesses, philanthropists, and sponsorsof the programme for their donations.

First held in 2008, the programme has mobilised social resourcesto help needy farmers have a warm Tet to enjoy and assisted the union in building manypractical support programmes.
In 2021, the municipal union used more than 9 billion VNDraised from the programmes and other donations to aid 2,361 members who wereinfected with COVID-19./.
