ASEAN launches Cultural Heritage Digital Archive Website

Jakarta (VNA) – The ASEANSecretariat launched the ASEAN Cultural Heritage Digital Archive (ACHDA)website at a ceremony at the Secretariat’s headquarters in Jakarta on February27.

Addressing the ceremony, DeputySecretary General for the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Kung Phoak said the ACHDAproject is an important step forward in raising awareness about the diversecultural heritages of the region.

JapaneseAmbassador to ASEAN Akira Chiba emphasized that the ACHDA is a creative project thatbrings benefit for not only ASEAN but the world also.

Afterits first phase which started in 2018, the ACHDA at //heritage.asean.org introduces 160 cultural heritage artefacts in the digital forms of Indonesia,Malaysia and Thailand.  

Theproject is funded by the Japanese Government through the Japan-ASEANIntegration Fund (JAIF).

Thesecond phase of ACHDA will continue to digitize cultural artefacts of Cambodia,Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam, with other ASEAN memberstates to follow soon in the future./.
