ASEAN to set up new cybersecurity centre in Singapore

Singapore’s Ministry of Defence announced a new cybersecurity and information centre of ASEAN will be set up in Singapore for better exchange of information among defence ministries of member countries to combat cyber security threats and misinformation.

Singapore (VNA) - Singapore’s Ministry of Defenceannounced a new cybersecurity and information centre of ASEAN will be set up inSingapore for better exchange of information among defence ministries of membercountries to combat cyber security threats and misinformation.

The establishment of the centre was approved at the 15th ASEAN DefenceMinisters' Meeting (ADMM 15) held virtually on June 15.

The ministry said the centre will fortify the ASEAN Cyber DefenceNetwork in promoting regional exchanges, interaction and cooperation incybersecurity matters.

The ADMM 15 adopted a declaration that reaffirmed the regionalgrouping's commitment to tackling prevailing and emerging transboundarysecurity threats in the region.

It also approved Singapore’s proposal to host an ADMM Plus conference oncountering chemical, biological and radiological threats in 2022. ADMM Plusgroups the 10 ASEAN members and eight dialogue partners – Australia, China,India, Japan, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea, Russia and the US./.
