Long An (VNA) – The Vietnam-CambodiaFriendship Association’s chapter in the Mekong Delta province of Long An heldits third congress on September 3 with the participation of more than 100members.

The congress elected a 19-member executive board forthe 2017-2022 tenure led by Le Minh Duc, Director of the provincial Departmentof Industry and Trade.

During the new term, the chapter will focus onimplementing the Party Central Committee Secretariat’s Directive No. 04-CT/TWon continuing to renew and improve the efficiency of people-to-people diplomacyin the new situation.

Accordingly, attention will be paid to raisingpublic awareness in combination with fulfilling socio-economic, security anddefence tasks, and participating in political, socio-economic activities,investment cooperation promotion, and humanitarian and charitableactivities. 

Over the past tenure, the chapter carried outvarious pragmatic activities, contributing to building trust and solidaritybetween locals and people of Cambodia in general and Svay Rieng and Prey Vengprovinces in particular.

Apart from health care programmes for poor residentsin the border area, the chapter dispatched officials to Cambodia to help buildeducation and transport facilities in the country, organised Khmer languageteaching classes, and maintained the establishment of twinning relationshipbetween Vietnamese and Cambodian border localities.-VNA
