Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam – Algeria Friendship Association convened its fourth congress, for the 2025–2030 term, in Hanoi on August 12.
Addressing the congress, Ouhaddad Mohamed, Chargé d’Affaires at the Algerian Embassy in Vietnam, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the association and relevant Vietnamese agencies for their substantial contributions to bilateral relations over the years.
He expressed his hope that in the new term, the association will continue to support and propose a wider range of cooperative activities between the two countries across various sectors, working alongside the embassy to implement meaningful initiatives that benefit both peoples.
Hailing its achievements and contributions to bilateral ties, Nguyen Ngoc Hung, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO), called on the association to further promote its role as a bridge for economic, trade, and investment cooperation in the new tenure.
He urged the association to develop a concrete action plan that closely links peace and friendship activities with economic and trade cooperation to translate the sound relationship into tangible results.
Hung also underscored the need to foster collaboration in science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation, including joint efforts in renewable energy projects, agricultural technology, and human resources training.
The VUFO official also suggested the organisation attract new members who are businesses involved in partnerships with Algeria, alumni, and representatives of state agencies to help facilitate activities. Besides, it should enhance connections with the Algeria – Vietnam Friendship Association to explore new cooperation opportunities, reinforce the Algeria-based Vietnamese community's bonds with the homeland, and improve its communications via digital platforms.
The congress elected a 20-member executive committee for 2025–2030, along with its president and vice presidents. Nguyen Tuong Van, Deputy Minister of Construction, was elected President for the new term.

Vietnam seeks to expand trade ties with Algeria
During the visit, office representatives held a working session with the Tipaza Chamber of Commerce and Industry and met with several prominent local businesses operating in key sectors including industry, agriculture, fisheries, food processing, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and plastics.
