Sydney (VNA) – Australian police in Sydn♐ey arrested a woman on January 13 for allegedly selling fake airline tickets to overseas Vietnamese students through Facebook.

The 24-year-old suspect is a Vietnamese national and has the Facebook account name Vi Tran. She was arrested at Petersham district – about 6 kilometers southwest of Sydney’s central business district.
The woman has been temporarily detained and is due to go on a trial on February 3 on charges of making illegal profits via swindling. On January 7, New South Wales police conducted an investigation after receiving information from overseas Vietnamese students in Sydney and Melbourne , saying they had been tricked into buying invalid air tickets for Vietnam Airlines through a Facebook account named Vi Tran.
The investigation is still underway. About 240 students have been caught out by the scam, losing over 360,000 AUD (250,461 USD).-VNA
