The Grace Southern Baptist General Confederation held its second general conference in Ho Chi Minh City on November 16.
The two-day event drew 500 delegates, including 98 dignitaries and followers from 22 southern cities and provinces.
Addressing the conference, Bui Thanh Ha, Deputy Head of the GovernmentCommittee for Religious Affairs, stressed that the State consistentlyimplements policies to respect and ensure people’s rights to religiousfreedom.
The issuance and implementation of legaldocuments on religious issues have met the legitimate aspirations ofreligious people, Protestants in particular, he said.
The GraceSouthern Baptist General Confederation was established in November 1962in HCM City, and recognised by the Government as a religiousorganisation in 2008.
This year’s conference will review the2008-12 operational period, elect a new Executive Board for the secondtenure and adopt the 2012-16 working plan.-VNA
