Hanoi (VNA) –National Assembly (NA) deputies passed the draft laws on the guard force and onthe management and use of weapons, explosive materials and support tools onJune 20 afternoon.

The bill on the guard force was approved with455 “yes” votes, accounting for 92.67 percent of the deputies.

It comprises six chapters with 33 articles,stipulating the subjects, principles and measures of the guard work; the tasks,power and responsibility of the guard force; the responsibility of agencies,organisations and individuals towards the guard work; and policies for theguard force and relevant agencies, organisations, and individuals; amongothers.

The law is applicable to the guard force,Vietnamese agencies, organisations and citizens, along with foreignorganisations and persons relating to guard activities in Vietnam.

The same day, with 457 or 93.085 percent of thedeputies voting yes, the draft law on the management and use of weapons,explosive materials and support tools was approved.

Consisting of eight chapters with 76 articles,the law regulates the management and use of weapons, explosive materials,explosives precursors and support tools.

It also specifies the principles andresponsibility of agencies, organisations and individuals in managing and usingweapons, explosive materials, explosives precursors and support tools toprotect national security, social order and safety, human rights and citizens’rights and to serve socio-economic development.-VNA
