Ho Chi Minh City (VNA) - A health project on producing genetic biochips being implemented at the Saigon High-Tech Park (SHTP) in Ho Chi Minh City is now included in a national plan on high-tech industries development through 2020, as approved by the Prime Minister.
Therefore, it will be eligible for preferential policies and treatments regulated at Resolution 2457/QD-TTg. These incentives include research and production support, particularly in infrastructure construction and manpower training.
Licenced in April 2015, the project is expected to turn out 360,000 biochips annually.
The products will be used to treat heart diseases and to detect tuberculosis, cancer, and congenital deaf, among others. Many of them have been applied in medical units nationwide.
As of September 2015, the SHTP is home to 82 valid investment projects with a total registered capital of 4.38 billion USD.
SHTP's export turnover rose from 5 percent of the city's total exports in 2011 to 14𝓀.19 percent in 2014 and 18 percent in the first nine months of this year.-VNA
