Ca Mau (VNA) - The southernmost province of Ca Mau aims to seek more export markets for its shrimp products through intensifyingtrade promotion activities as an effort to realise the locality’s export targetof 1.1 billion USD in 2017.

The locality is coordinating with ministries, sectors to prepare a shrimpfestival in 2018.

Attention will be also paid to building brand name for shrimp products andexpanding domestic consumption.

According Chau Cong Bang, Deputy Director of the provincial Department ofAgriculture and Rural Development, Ca Mau continues accelerating agriculturerestructuring in the direction of improving added value of products and promotingsustainable development.

The locality focuses on expanding shrimp-farming models with high-productivity meetingVietGap, GlobalGap and Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) standards in orderto produce clean materials for processing for-export shrimp products.

Local seafood processing enterprises will be assisted in applying newtechnologies to better the quality of their products in order to satisfy the demandof each import market.

In the first six months of this year, Ca Mau’s export turnover hit nearly 420million USD, up 3.3 percent against the same period last year, mainlycontributed by shrimp shipments to the US, Japan, the Republic of Korea,Canada, Australia, China, Europe and other markets.-VNA
