Cambodia-Japan trade records nearly 1 billion USD

Trade value between Cambodia and Japan reached 945 million USD in the first 11 months of 2014, according to the data released by the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO).

During the period,Cambodia’s exports to Japan were valued at 716 million USD, up 31.5percent, while its imports from the country amounted to 228 million USD,an increase by 19.3 percent compared to the same period of 2013.

In November alone, Cambodia’s exports to Japan totaled 26 million USD,while imports from the country were valued at 53 million USD.

Cambodia’s main exports to Japan are garments and textiles andagro-products. Imports consist mainly of machinery, motor vehicles, andelectronic devices.

In order to boost their businessand tourism cooperation, the two countries signed an agreement on airtransportation on January 14.

Earlier, Prime MinisterCambodia Hun Sen and Japanese Deputy Minister for Foreign AffairsKazuyuki Nakane attended a ceremony connecting spans of Neak Loeung,Cambodia’s longest bridge constructed with funding from Japan.-VNA
