Cambodia: PM Hun Sen elected as President of ruling CPP party

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen was elected as President of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party at the 38th central committee conference on June 20, replacing Chea Sim who passed away on June 8.

Hun Sen, 63 years old, has been CPP Vice President since 1991 and has served as Cambodian Prime Minister since 1985.

In addition, Say Chhum and Sar Kheng were elected as vice presidents of the CPP.

Say Chhum was also elected as President of the Cambodian Senate on June 9.

Sar Kheng is currently Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister.-VNA
