Cambodia reports nearly 5 million air travellers in Jan-Oct

Hanoi (VNA) - Cambodia served nearly 5 million air passengers in the first 10 months of 2024, a year-on-year increase of 21%, according to the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA).

SSCA Undersecretary of State and Spokesperson Sinn Chanserey Vutha said that in the reviewed period, international and domestic airlines operated almost 50,000 flights to the country's three international airports, up 14%.

He added that the nation also reported a 37% increase in air cargo volume to over 63,000 tonnes in January-October.

Chanserey Vutha expressed his confidence that the Chinese-invested Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI), which was put into operation in November 2023, will help attract more international airlines and passengers to Cambodia.

With a 3,600-metre runway, the SAI is a 4E-level international airport capab𒐪le of handling the landing of almost all kinds of aircraft fro🌸m across the world, he added./.
