Cambodian Minister hails Vietnamese press agencies

Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodia’s Ministerof Information Khieu Kanharrith spoke highly of the effective cooperationbetween Vietnamese and Cambodian press agencies since 1993 at a reception inPhnom Penh on July 6.

At his meeting with correspondents from the VietnamNews Agency, Vietnam Television, Voice of Vietnam, and Nhan dan (People)Newspaper, Kanharrith thanked the Vietnamese press agencies for reportingfully, honestly and objectively the situation in Cambodia, especially itspolitics, social affairs and economic development, including the communalelection on June 4.

He recalled the prompt and effective assistanceof Vietnamese experts in helping Cambodia build and develop its press andcommunications system in the 1980s.

The Vietnamese correspondents have fulfilled theirprofessional missions and acted as a bridge for Cambodian press agencies topartner with local Vietnamese press outlets over the past decade, he said.

Head of the Vietnam News Agency’s representativeoffice in Cambodia Tran Chi Hung thanked Minister Kanharrith and Cambodiancounterparts for supporting the Vietnamese press agencies’ representativeoffices to carry out their tasks, thus helping Vietnamese readers understandbetter about the social-political situation in Cambodia and enhancing thebilateral traditional friendship and neighbourliness.-VNA
