Phnom Penh (VNA) – The Cambodian carrier, Angkor Air is experiencing stellar growth with total revenue gained in 2015 standing at 100 million USD, the Khmer Daily quoted Duk Ret Som Rech, director of the Cambodian national carrier as saying.
He attributed the surge in revenue to the 20-25 percent increase in number of passengers. By October, 2015, the airline transported one million customers, meeting the yearly target.
Angkor Air is fine-tuning its current routes and expanding additional routes to scale up its turnover. The airline sees India with total population of more than one billion people, as a big potential market in the future.
The Cambodia national airline, established in 2009, is a joint venture between a Vietnamese company and the Cambodian Government, with the former holding 49 percent of the airline. The carrier owns six aircraft, including two ATR airplanes and four Airbus A320 planes.
Angkor Air is planning to double its fleet to 12 jets 💃by 2020 and launch new flights to Hong Kong, Singapore, the Republic of Korea and India to meet the increasing travel demands.-VNA
