About 500 others got free eye surgery during thetwo-month programme, said Tran Van Thuan, Chairman of the Vietnam YoungDoctors Association (VYDA), at a ceremony to review the outcomes of thecampaign in Hanoi on October 1, coinciding with the 23rd InternationalDay of Older Persons.
The campaign, jointlyorganised by the Central Committees of the Vietnam Youth Federation(VYF) and the VYDA, and Nhat Nhat Pharmacy Co., Ltd, drew theparticipation of about 3,000 young doctors and 5,000 volunteers.
Speaking at the event, President of the Vietnam Fatherland FrontCentral Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan praised efforts made by theorganisers in implementing the significant programme.
Affirming the caring of older people as the responsibility of thewhole society, he asked the Central Committee of the Ho Chi MinhCommunist Youth Union, the VYF and the VYDA to design more significantand creative programmes to take care of the elderly in the future.-VNA
