HCM City (VNA) – The Can Gio international transshipment port project has taken a significant step forward with its official inclusioꩲn in Vietnam’s seaport development plan.

The Ministry of Transport has approved adjustments to policies, solutions, and resource allocations for the implementation of the national seaport system master plan for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. The Can Gio port is now part of the implementation roadmap.
The port is also listed among projects expected to attract private investment, with funding needs outlined in detailed plans for seaport groups, terminals, mooring areas, and port infrastructure development. Earlier, the Prime Minister approved the project’s investment policy, requiring a minimum investment of 50 trillion VND (1.95 billion USD) and a service life of 50 years. Investors cannot transfer the project within five years of receiving the investment registration certificate. Any transfer beyond this period must comply with legal regulations and receive approval from the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee. The project can only proceed with approvals from the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Public Security, and relevant authorities if national security or defence concerns arise during implementation or in the event of a project transfer./.
